For quite some time now, reports have been doing the rounds that Colors TV's longest-running show "Balika Vadhu" will take a generation leap and also introduce a fresh cast. With new members joining the show, Toral Rasputra's journey as Anandi will also come to an end.
Talking about her journey on "Balika Vadhu," Toral told the Times of India that since she had been part of a social drama for over three years, she would now like to do a comedy show. "It's been a beautiful journey. But now that I have acted in a social drama for three years, I would love to do a comedy," she said. Unlike many television actress, Toral, however, has no qualms about the show taking a leap. Instead, the actress believes that the show needs some freshness.
Toral replaced Pratyusha Banerjee after the latter took an exit from the show a few years ago. Talking about her equation with Pratyusha, who allegedly committed suicide April 1, Toral said that there was no problem between them. "I remember meeting her for the first time at an event. I liked the fact that even though I had replaced her, she came up to me and wished me luck for the show. She seemed like a bubbly girl, who was full of life," Toral added.
Besides Toral, veteran actress Surekha Sikri, who played the role of Dadisa, and Rajeshwari Sachdev aka Mangala would leave the show as well. There were reports "Balika Vadhu" would take the leap April 25 onwards and would narrate the story of yet another girl named Anandi and highlight the evils of child marriage.
Post-leap, popular actress Mahhi Vij will play the role of grown-up Nimboli, which is currently being played by child artiste Gracy Goswami. Confirming the news, Mahhi had told the Times of India that she hopes to have a long association with the show. "I was getting a lot of offers, but I auditioned for them halfheartedly, as I feared the show wouldn't last more than six months. But ever since I gave a look test for BV, I have been praying every single day for the deal to materialise," Mahhi had said.
