Colors' longest running show "Balika Vadhu" is all set to take a generation leap and also introduce a fresh cast. It had been reported that post-leap, popular actress Mahhi Vij would play the role of grown-up Nimboli (currently played by Gracy Goswami) and Avinash Sachdev would be seen as the male lead.
Popular actor Ruslaan Mumtaz will apparently be joining Mahhi and Avinash as the other male lead, Tellychakkar.com reported. Ruslaan was last seen on Sony TV's "Kehta Hai Dil Jee Le Zara."
The report stated that besides focusing on social evils, the show will also revolve around a love triangle between the characters played by Mahhi, Avinash and Ruslaan. "Apart from a social drama, a love tale will also entertain viewers now. And the new story will focus on the love triangle between the characters played by Mahhi, Avinash and Ruslaan," a source told the web-portal.
"Balika Vadhu" will take the leap April 25 onwards and television actress Jayshree Soni will be essaying a negative role. After the time jump, the show will reportedly narrate the story of yet another girl named Anandi and highlight the evils of child marriage.
With this development, the actors who have been associated with the show since its inception eight years ago, will make an exit from the show. Veteran actress Surekha Sikri, who played the role of Dadisa, Toral Rasputra aka Anandi and Rajeshwari Sachdev aka Mangala would leave the show.
Talking about the show taking a leap, Toral had told the Times of India, that she has no qualms about the time jump, and instead believes that the show needs some freshness. "It's been a beautiful journey. But now that I have acted in a social drama for three years, I would love to do a comedy," Toral had said.
