Colors' longest-running show "Balika Vadhu" recently took a 15-year leap, and also introduced several new faces and a fresh storyline. While popular actors like Mahhi Vij, Avinash Sachdev and Ruslaan Mumtaz have been roped in to play important roles on the show after the leap, another actor will soon join the cast.
Dishank Arora, who played Pandit Trilok Chaurasiya on the popular youth-centric show "Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan," has reportedly been roped in to essay the role of Nandini's (Mahhi) brother Shivam on the show, India Forums reported. Dishank had also been part of several television shows like "Love Ne Milla Di Jodi" and "Punar Vivah."
Besides these actors, Yukti Kapoor, who played Urmila on the mythological series "Siya Ke Ram," will be seen playing the antagonist Sudha Shekhawat. It was reported that Jayshree Soni was supposed to play the role, but had to opt out due to her prior work commitments.
After the leap, "Balika Vadhu" will continue focusing on highlighting social evils and is likely to showcase a love triangle between Nandini, Dr Amit Goel (played by Avinash) and Krish (played by Ruslaan).
Earlier, Mahhi had told the Times of India she hoped to have a long association with the show. "I was getting a lot of offers, but I auditioned for them halfheartedly, as I feared the show wouldn't last more than six months. But ever since I gave a look test for 'BV,' I have been praying every single day for the deal to materialise," Mahhi had said.
