Television actress Pratyusha Banerjee, who earned a name for herself as Anandi from "Balika Vadhu," has committed suicide. The television actress, who also participated in "Bigg Boss 7," was declared dead at Kokilaben Ambani hospital in Andheri, Mumbai. She was 24.
According to Tellychakkar.com, Pratyusha had attempted suicide Friday, after which she was rushed to Kokilaben Ambani hospital where she was declared dead by doctors.
DCP Dhananjay Kulkarni, Mumbai police spokesperson, confirmed the news and said that hospital authorities had sent a death report after she was declared dead, the Hindustan Times reports. Pratyusha reportedly hung herself from the ceiling fan at her residence in Mumbai.
However, actor Ajaz Khan, who worked with her in "Bigg Boss 7," told ANI that he believes it's a planned murder. "I don't think its suicide.I think its planned murder- Ajaz Khan (Co-actor of Pratyusha Banerjee who was found dead)," ANI tweeted.
Pratyusha's best friend and television actress Kamya Punjabi confirmed the news to the DNA. Pratyusha and Kamya participated in the reality show "Bigg Boss 7." "I am not in the right frame of mind," she said.
Her "Balika Vadhu co-star Sidharth Shukla told BollywoodLife.com, "I also just heard the news and I am shocked. This is indeed very sad and depressing."
Initial reports suggested that Pratyusha had relationship problems, which forced her to take the drastic step. She was in a relationship with Rahul Raj Singh and the two also planned to get married soon.
Pratyusha shot to fame with Colors' popular show "Balika Vadhu" in which she played the character of Anandi.
