Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker, recorded a 29.1% increase in its total sales in October 2015 at 1,34,209 units as against 1,03,973 units in the same month last year.
In October 2015, while the domestic sales of Maruti increased 24.7% at 1,21,063 units as against 97,069 units in the corresponding month last year, the export during this period rose by 90.4% to 13,146 units as compared to 6,904 units in October last year.
Last month, Maruti sold 37,595 units of Alto and Wagon R, compared to 35,753 units in October 2014. The sales of the super-compact Dzire Tour jumped to 3,418 units during October 2015, up from 1,408 units during the same period in 2014, registering two-fold rise. There was no sale of premium sedan Kizashi during last month.
In the compact car segment that includes Swift, Ritz, Celerio, Dzire and new Baleno, Maruti witnessed 37.7% to 51,048 units in October this year compared to 37,083 units a year ago, leading the sales of the company for this month. The sales of Maruti Ciaz sedan clocked 5,890 units in October 2015, recording a 7.2% dip from 6,345 units in the same period last year.
The sales of utility vehicles Gypsy, Grand Vitara, Ertiga and S-Cross stood at 9,435 units in October, up from 9,435 units in the corresponding month last year. The company sold 13,677 units of Omni and Eeco last month, compared to 13,677 units in October 2014.
