"Bajrangi Bhaijaan" has edged past the opening weekend box office collection of "Kick" and "PK" in India. Salman Khan starrer "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" has become the third fastest film to cross Rs 100 crore mark at the domestic box office, after "Happy New Year" and "Dhoom 3".
With its third day (Sunday) box office collection, Salman's film has entered the 100 crore mark. The film has also dethroned movies like "Gabbar Is Back", "Baby", "Dil Dhadakne Do" and "Piku" lifetime box office collection within three days of its release to become the third highest grossing Bollywood film of 2015.
"#BajrangiBhaijaan sets BOX-OFFICE ON FIRE. Records MONSTROUS biz on Sun [Day 3]. Crosses ₹ 100 cr in opening weekend in India," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"#BajrangiBhaijaan won hearts, acclaim... now emerges TRIUMPHANT at the BO. Fri 27.25 cr, Sat 36.60 cr, Sun 38.75 cr. Total: ₹ 102.60 cr," he added.
"Bajrangi Bhaijaan" had the widest release -- 4500 screens -- in India and overseas market -- 700 screens -- this year. Since the screen count is the highest, the film also had some highest box office numbers right from the opening day.
Interestingly, the film recorded the highest single day collection on Sunday with Rs 38 crore according to Box Office India. The film also surpassed Aamir Khan's "PK" Sunday collection of Rs 36.40 crore.
"Bajrangi Bhaijaan" also registered historic collections in several circuits, including National Capital Region, East Punjab, CP Berar, CI and Bihar. The film benefited during the opening weekend due to Eid holiday and festive mood.
Meanwhile, "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" is Salman's eighth film to surpass Rs 100 crore mark, while Kabir Khan's second film after "Ek Tha Tiger" and Kareena Kapoor Khan's sixth film to enter the century club. And thus he created another record as he is the only actor with highest number of films in Rs 100 crore club.
"#BajrangiBhaijaan is Salman Khan's 8th film to cross ₹ 100 cr mark in India. HIGHEST ₹ 100 cr score by any actor. Note: Hindi films," Adarsh added.
