Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" had a phenomenal theatrical run at the box office, and the film is now making its way out of theatres.
"Bajrangi Bhaijaan" is the first movie of 2015 to cross Rs 300 crore mark in India and second film after Aamir Khan's "PK" to achieve the feat. After it crossed Rs 300 crore mark, trade experts were expecting "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" to beat "PK" lifetime total record.
Even fans voted that "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" would emerge as the biggest grosser of all time by smashing "PK" record. In a poll conducted by IBTimes India, 67% of movie buffs voted in favour of "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" becoming the highest grosser, while only 33% said that it will fail to beat the record.
And after its 32-day run, it looks like "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" will settle for the second highest grosser of all time title. The film is almost out of the theatres and with six releases this week "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" box office run might come to an end.
Kabir Khan's directorial film has earned Rs 316.67 crore and by the end of fifth week, it will take its overall total to approximately Rs 318 crore.
The film requires Rs 20 crore more to beat "PK" record, as Aamir starrer minted Rs 340.8 crore in its lifetime run. With its theatrical run nearing its end, "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" will not be able to earn Rs 20 crore.
Also, at the worldwide box office "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" will remain as the second highest grosser with Rs 606 crore gross income, while at the overseas box office it will be the third highest grosser after "PK" and "Dhoom 3".
"Bajrangi Bhaijaan" helmed by Kabir Khan also features Harshaali Malhotra and Nawazuddin Siddique in prominent roles. The film was released in more than 5000 screens worldwide on 17 July.
