Kareena Kapoor Khan, who was supposed to star in Raj Kumar Gupta's much-anticipated film "Section 84", has opted out of the project.
Confirming the news, Gupta told Mumbai Mirror: "Yes, it's a mutual decision. Things didn't work out as planned."
The "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" actress was supposed to play the role of a schizophrenic patient, who gets involved in a crime.
Earlier, in an interview with the daily, Gupta had said: "Yes. Section 84 is an integral part of the film and Kareena is my protagonist. It's a character with two sides. Trouble begins when she steps out of a mental asylum. The film is inspired by a real life incident. We start shooting in mid-April."
Kareena was reportedly not happy with the final script and as the shooting got delayed till August, the actress chose to walk out of the project.
Speaking about the same, Gupta of "No One Killed Jessica" fame said: "These speculations are absolutely untrue. Eros has been on board for some time. As for the script excuse, that is the most convenient route and I guess as old as cinema."
This is not the first time that the "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" actress has opted out of a good project.
Earlier, she has rejected many films that went out to become blockbusters. "Kaho Na Pyar Hai", "Queen", "Fashion", "Chennai Express", "Ram-Leela", "Dil Dhadakne Do" are some of the films that were initially offered to Kareena.
