The Versova police on Sunday filed a case against "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui for allegedly assaulting a 24-year-old student over an argument on parking space in their housing society.
The complainant Hina Shaikh and the Bollywood actor reside in the same housing society in Mumbai. According to reports, the society has been facing problems over car parking space for the past few days. The chairperson and secretary of the building had sent letters to the members of the society, including Nawazuddin, over the issue, according to DNA.
"On Sunday around 1:15 pm, when the victim was sitting with her grandmother in the society office she spotted private bouncers of Siddiqui arguing with a member over parking of a motorcycle. She then started taking photographs of the incident on her mobile phone. Meanwhile, Siddiqui came to the spot and started arguing with her. He then pushed her and told her not to take any photographs. At that time, Siddiqui's brother Shamshuddin and their bouncers were also present," DNA quoted an officer from Versova police station as saying.
After the argument, the victim filed a complaint against the Bollywood actor. The police registered the complaint under Section 354 of the IPC (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) against Nawazuddin.
Meanwhile, denying the physical assault claim, Nawazuddin's manager Anup Pandey told Press Trust of India that the case has been filed without any investigation.
"It is a false case. The case has been registered without investigation. It is a society issue which has been going on for a long time. There was an argument but no 'hatha pai' (physical assault), as claimed in the complaint. We will take up the matter," Pandey said.
