Reports have been doing the rounds that Salman Khan's "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" has shattered the records of Aamir Khan's "Dhoom 3" to become the second highest Bollywood grosser of all time.
However, "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" is yet to break the lifetime box office collection records of "Dhoom 3" as the film requires Rs 12 crore more to become the second highest grosser.
"Bajrangi Bhaijaan" finished its two weeks run at the domestic box office with Rs 272.25 crore income. The film held well at the box offices in its second week as there was no competition from new releases. "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" minted Rs 87.63 crore in its second week, while Rs 184.62 from its first week.
"#BajrangiBhaijaan [Wk 2] Fri 12.80 cr, Sat 19.25 cr, Sun 24.05 cr, Mon 9.30 cr, Tue 9.10 cr, Wed 7.10 cr, Thu 6.03 cr. Total: ₹ 272.25 cr," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
To beat the lifetime box office collection records of "Dhoom 3", which is pegged at Rs 284.27, "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" will require two more days.
But if it earns more than Rs 12 crore on third Friday, it will become the second highest Bollywood grosser in just 15 days.
On the other hand, "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" is expected to earn over Rs 30 crore in its third weekend to become Salman's and this year's first Rs 300 crore Bollywood grosser.
"#BajrangiBhaijaan is galloping STEADILY towards ₹ 300 cr nett [India biz]. Weekend 3 should again witness an UPSURGE in biz. ATBB," Adarsh added.
Directed by Kabir Khan, "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" also features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Harshaali Malhotra and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in prominent roles.
Note: "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" and "Dhoom 3" collections are approximate net figure.
