Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone starrer "Bajirao Mastani" box office collection has shown tremendous growth during the opening weekend.
The box office collection of "Bajirao Mastani" increased by approximately 44 percent on Sunday compared to the opening day. The opening weekend box office collection of "Bajirao Mastani" stands at Rs 46.77 crore.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's directorial film had a slow start and earned Rs 12.80 crore on the opening day, but the collection increased on second day by 21 percent, and on Sunday it went up further by 44 percent.
"#BajiraoMastani is UNSTOPPABLE. SUPER word of mouth translates into SUPER biz. Fri 12.80 cr, Sat 15.52 cr, Sun 18.45 cr. Total: ₹ 46.77 cr," box office analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
Despite clashing with Shah Rukh's "Dilwale", the film worked well at the box office due to two factors -- positive reviews and word of mouth. After a phenomenal weekend, the film is expected to have a steady pace during the weekdays. Christmas holiday on Friday will also help the film to have a good run at the box office.
Meanwhile, the film has crossed Rs 50 crore mark in its opening weekend at the worldwide box office. The film had a poor run at the overseas box office, but the combined total of global and domestic earnings has come to a decent mark.
From the overseas box office, which includes UK-Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and Germany, "Bajirao Mastani" earned Rs 4.7 crore.
The opening weekend worldwide total of "Bajirao Mastani" now stands at Rs 51.47 crore.
Directed by Bhansali, the film features Ranveer, Deepika and Priyanka in pivotal roles.
Dilwale Vs Bajirao Mastani
Two biggies – Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale – were released on the same day, which affected the business of both the films. A big ticket, especially a Khan's film, released during a holiday period earns around Rs 100 crore in its opening weekend, but this time Shah Rukh's "Dilwale" earned around Rs 64 crore, while "Bajirao" earned Rs 46.77 crore.
But the combined total of "Dilwale" and "Bajirao Mastani" has crossed Rs 111.86 crore in its opening weekend.
"#Dilwale + #BajiraoMastani *COMBINED* business:- Fri 33.80 cr, Sat 35.61 cr, Sun 42.45 cr. COMBINED total: ₹ 111.86 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The combined box office collection is impressive, but will be more interesting to see which movie takes the lead at ticket window by the end of first week.
