Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali are paying tribute to the gorgeous Madhubala with an upcoming song in the film "Bajirao Mastani", the tale of a romance between an Indian General, Peshwa Baji Rao I, and his second wife, Mastani.
Madhubala was famous for her stunning beauty in the black-and-white era of Bollywood. The song 'Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya' from the film "Mughal-e-Azam" is one of the popular songs featuring the late actress.
"The 'Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya' number in Mughal-e-Azam was designed to showcase Madhubala's beauty in all its glory. Director K Asif had shot the song in a spectacularly constructed 'Sheesh Mahal' set. Sanjay Bhansali has designed his song on his 'Aaina Mahal' set as a tribute to K Asif, Mughal-e-Azam and Deepika," Bollywood Life quoted a source as saying.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is honouring the iconic actress Madhubala with a new song titled "Deewani Mastani" and Deepika Padukone has transformed herself into this era's Madhubala. The song will be crooned by Shreya Ghoshal. Sanjay Bhansali has shot Deepika reflected as scores of mirror images in his 'Aaina Mahal', a set specially constructed for the film.
Apart from Deepika, "Bajirao Mastani" also features Priyanka Chopra and Ranveer Singh. While Ranveer and Deepika play the roles of Baji Rao and Mastani, respectively, Priyanka will be seen as Bajirao's first wife, Kashibai.
After Bhansali's "Ram-Leela", the couple (Ranveer and Deepika) is back on the big screen to re-create their chemistry in this period dram, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's most ambitious project to date.
The film is slated to hit theatres on 18 December, along with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol's "Dilwale", directed by Rohit Shetty.
