Decks have been cleared to welcome the much-awaited motorcycle range "V" from popular two-wheeler maker Bajaj. The Pune-based two-wheeler maker will pull the wraps off its new "V" motorcycles, made from the metal of the INS Vikrant, on 1 February.
Bajaj, which released the first teaser video of the all-new "V" -- also called "Valor" -- with the tag line that reads "Made with the invincible metal of INS Vikrant'", will unveil the new sub-brand at an event in New Delhi at 12.00 pm today.
INS Vikrant was commissioned in 1961 and was sent to the scrap yard in 2014. Reports say that Bajaj has collected enough metal from the scrapped aircraft carrier to produce the motorcycles for the next two years.
Although at this point of time technical specifications of the new "V" motorcycles are not known, rumours floating on the web suggest that the first motorcycle of this new brand would be a 150cc executive commuter bike. The company will sell the new range of motorcycles alongside the current Discover range. As for power, the 150cc "V" is likely to share the engine with Bajaj Discover, which currently churns out 14.3bhp of power and 12.75Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed gearbox. From the teaser images, the bike seems to have adopted a retro look with a sporty rear.
