The wait for the Pulsar SS400, the bike billed as 'one of the best creations of Bajaj' , will soon be over for all two-wheeler enthusiasts as the company has hinted that it will be available in the first half of 2015.
The big performance machine was first unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo earlier this year.
While speaking to CNBC-TV18, Money Control, Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto, let drop hints about the company's plans to launch new bikes. Though he did not specify which of the Pulsars will be launched, sources believe it is going to be Pulsar SS400 that will be first off the blocks and that too as early as March or April 2015.
"The second comment I would make and the last one on this issue is that we ourselves, as I told you the last time, have some big launches for the Pulsar. The bigger motorcycle that we showed at the auto expo and those are due for March and April as I was just telling. So, I would like to believe that we can at least hold on to this 45 percent market share that we have reached now," MoneyControl quoted Bajaj.
For those who are forgetting, Pulsar SS400 is one of the performance bikes from Pune-based bike manufacturer, which made its debut at the Delhi Auto Expo, 2014.The bike that caught the attention of two wheeler lovers has been linked to different launch dates since then.
The Super Sport 400 Pulsar (SS400) flaunts a stylish design and gets power from a 375cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve triple spark engine, mated to a six-speed transmission with fuel injection. As for the features, the SS400 Pulsar is expected to get a split seat, mudguard-mounted taillight and clip-on handle bars. Also expect the bike to have anti-lock braking systems (ABS).
For now, the price details of the upcoming Pulsar SS400 are sketchy, but the word around the Internet suggests that the Bajaj is likely to price its stunning Pulsar offering in the INR1.9 - INR2.1 lakh range. Considering, Bajaj's pricing strategy for the Indian market, Pulsar SS400 could be one of the most affordable performance bikes once it hits the market.
The SS 400 Pulsar is likely to be pitted against Honda CBR 250R in the domestic market. While the Pulsar SS400 will be looking to entice two wheeler enthusiasts seeking more pace away from the ubiquitous 220cc, the upcoming Pulsar 200SS will continue to entertain the larger segment.
Bajaj Pulsar 200SS, the fully-faired avatar of Bajaj Pulsar 200NS is likely to borrow the same engine of its sibling 200NS. The current engine of 200NS has the capacity to churn out 23.52PS of power @9,500rpm and 18.3Nm of torque @8,000rpm. The bike is speculated to make its entry into the market in early 2015.
