Close on the heels of the launch of its new commuter motorcycle Baja V, the Pune-based two-wheeler maker Bajaj is now mulling the launch of yet another new motorcycle in the Indian market. Fuelling the rumours of the Pulsar (Cruiser Sport) CS400 further are the emerging reports indicating the maker of Pulsar, which continues to rule the market, is gearing up to present "a big bike" in India soon.
A report of Carandbike.com reveals the launch of Bajaj V commuter motorcycle is likely to be followed by a big performance machine in the country. Although, the report cites Eric Vas, president (Motorcycle Business), Bajaj Auto, it is not specific which of the bikes that have been rumoured will be launched first.
The general consensus, however, points to the Pulsar CS400. The Pulsar CS400, the concept, which first made its appearance at the Auto Expo 2014, along with Pulsar SS400, has kept the biking enthusiasts in the country on tenterhooks since then. The bike was linked to several launch dates too and it looks like the company is finally ready to unravel the suspense this year.
For the uninitiated, Pulsar CS400, what is probably Bajaj's first offering in its new power cruiser segment, is built on the same platform as that of the KTM 390 Duke. It is expected to be powered by a 375cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve triple-spark engine and come mated to six-speed transmission with fuel injection.
In India, the bike is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 1.7 lakh to Rs 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom) and also be the company's first two-wheeler to come with a 375cc engine. The Pulsar CS400 is expected to get disc brakes at the rear and the front and may also be offered with an ABS.
