If the emerging reports on the web are true, then popular two-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto is reportedly planning to roll out three new Avenger motorcycles in India this week in a bid to increase its sales in the domestic market.
A report of MoneyControl claims that Bajaj has three Avenger launches on cards for this week; however, the report did not divulge any other detail about the models. With the launch of new Avenger motorcycles, Bajaj hopes to increase the Avenger series sales to 20,000 units per month, from the current 4,000 units per month, added the report.
It has long been rumoured that Bajaj is working on a new Avenger, with updated engine. The updated model of Avenger is expected to get the 200cc engine of Pulsar 200NS, which will deliver more power than the current engine. The 200NS engine has the capacity to generate 23bhp at 9,500rpm and 18.3Nm of torque at 8,000rpm.
Currently, the cruiser Avenger draws power from a 220cc single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine sourced from Pulsar 220 capable of churning out 19bhp at 8,400rpm and 17.5Nm of torque at 7,000rpm.
While the styling and design of new Aver 200 is expected to be the same as the current model, rumours are rife that the transmission in the new Avenger would be taken care of by a six-speed gearbox, instead of the current five-speed unit.
