It appears that Pune-based two-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto is keenly looking forward to the New Year as the emerging reports suggest that the company has plans to launch at least two new motorcycles in the first month of 2018.
S Ravikumar, President-Business development, Bajaj Auto, told Money Control that there are new models in the line-up for January 2018. However, there are no details of the models which will hit the showrooms.
Rumours are rife that one of the new motorcycles would be a new variant of the Avenger cruiser. While it is not clear whether that will be an Avenger with a bigger engine or a smaller displacement engine, there have been rumours that the company is working on a bigger Avenger model powered by a single-cylinder 375cc engine that also does duty in Bajaj Dominar 400 and KTM 390 Duke. The mill is tried and tested and both Dominar 400 and 390 Duke are quite popular among youngsters.
In addition to this, it is also learnt that Bajaj is planning to add a new variant to its V range. The new V variant is expected to be launched in the second half of the financial year. To be positioned between entry-level commuter models CT100, Platina and V15, the new V model is likely to be a low-cost model. Bajaj V is available in 150cc and 125cc versions.
Bajaj Auto could also be readying a new brand that would cater to the 110cc and 125cc segments. The new motorcycle brand from Bajaj is also expected to be launched in the country in 2018.
