Bajaj Auto is gearing up for the launch of its flagship and most powerful motorcycle, Dominar 400, on December 15. Ahead of the launch, the Pune-based bike manufacturer has teased Dominar 400 again.
The new teaser shows the full LED headlamp of Dominar 400. In terms of premium features, Dominar 400 will be the first Indian motorcycle to be fitted with full LED headlamps. Debuted as Pulsar CS400 concept at Auto Expo 2014, Bajaj renamed it as Dominar 400 recently. Dominar will be the new brand of Bajaj Auto that will be positioned above Pulsar and Avenger brands. It will focus only on premium and more powerful motorcycles of the manufacturer.
The name Dominar is a Spanish word meaning "to exceed in power. Bajaj Auto started production of Dominar 400 at its Pune facility on November 18, while bookings have started unofficially.
From the concept to final spec, Dominar 400 features only minor changes. The upside down front forks of the Pulsar CS400 concept will make way for conventional telescopic front suspension in Dominar 400, while mono shock will take care at the rear. Though ABS was expected as standard with Dominar 400, emerging reports indicate that it will be offered as optional only. Dominar 400 will sport twin instrument console — one on the handlebar as seen in other bikes and the other on the fuel tank.
Dominar will be powered by a 373cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve triple-spark, fuel-injected mill mated to six-speed transmission. This is the same mill that also does duty in the KTM 390 Duke. The engine is expected to develop a power of 40bhp and 30Nm of peak torque in Dominar. The motorcycle is expected to get a price in the range of Rs 1.6 lakh to Rs 1.8 lakh, ex-showroom. At that price point it will be the most affordable power cruiser in the market.
