Decks have been cleared to welcome one of the most-awaited motorcycles of the year, the Dominar 400, from the house of popular two-wheeler maker Bajaj. The Dominar 400, the flagship motorcycle of Bajaj, is expected to break the cover in India on December 15.
Ahead of its launch in the country, Bajaj has started dispatching the new Dominar 400 to its dealership centres and images of the model from different showrooms have started flooding the internet. Bajaj's Dominar 400 hit the assembly line at the company's Chakan facility in the second week of November.
The Dominar 400, Bajaj's most powerful bike yet, will enter the territory that is currently being led by Chennai-based bike maker Royal Enfield. It is expected to be priced aggressively, starting at Rs 1.8 lakh (on-road Delhi).
The Dominar 400 is expected to get the refined 373cc fuel injected, liquid-cooled, 4-valve triple-spark mill, which also does duty in KTM 390 Duke. The engine is expected to come with fuel injection, mated to six-speed transmission. The engine is expected churn out power of 40bhp and 30Nm of peak torque and there also seems to be a base variant with the same engine but with 34bhp of power.
Reports suggest that while the top-end variant of the Dominar 400 would get dual-channel ABS, the variant with less power is likely to come equipped with single-channel ABS. This will also be reflected in the pricing of the power cruiser. It seems to have dual-tone paint job and will flaunt the name the Dominar on the fuel tank. The Dominar 400 will be the first in its segment to get LED headlamps and will house twin instrument console — one on the handlebar as seen in other bikes and the other on the fuel tank.
Some of the dealers of Bajaj have started accepting bookings for the new Dominar 400.
