In interview to Money Control, President-Business Development at Bajaj Auto, S Ravikumar said that the company has sold 2,000 units of the Dominar 400. "It had been 3,000 units. From 3,000 units domestic, we are talking about 2,000 in this month. We are now concentrating mainly on the metros and the main cities and then after establishing it there, we will take it forward to other markets," Ravikumar said. "It will take some more time to seep into the smaller cities and the volumes to build up but we will be concentrating mainly on the big cities now."
Bajaj Auto has also commenced exports of the Dominar 400 for the many markets include Latin America. The company has exported nearly 1000 units of the Dominar 400 and that could have been the reason for dent in sales.
Rajiv Bajaj, managing director of Bajaj Auto has previously said that the company intends to sell nearly 6,000 units of the Dominar 400 eventually. The April sale is not promising enough for the target sales.
The Dominar 400 is powered by a 373.3cc 4-valve DTS-i liquid-cooled engine and churns out 34bhp and 35Nm of torque. The motorcycle can cruise from 0 to 100 kmph in just 8.23 seconds and is offered in two variants. Dominar 400 has a full LED headlamp with vertical Auto Headlamp On (AHO), split reverse LCD display, twin channel ABS and slipper clutch.
The Dominar 400 is priced at Rs 1.37 lakh for regular variants while the twin-channel ABS variant comes at Rs 1.51 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).
