Bajaj Auto launched its flagship as well as most powerful motorcycle the Dominar 400 for an introductory price of Rs 1.36 lakh for base version and 1.50 lakh for dual-channel ABS variant, ex-showroom Delhi. The first power cruiser of Bajaj Auto will reportedly get sport tourer as the Dominar moniker is set to grow with new models.
Similar to the Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS range that later expanded with Pulsar RS 200 and Pulsar AS 200, a tourer version and an adventure version will be the possible Dominar iterations, reports BikeDekho. The Dominar perfectly matches the requirements of a tourer machine and hence Dominar tourer will be a faired version of the bike with some minor changes.
Bajaj Auto already showcased Pulsar SS400 concept along with the Pulsar CS400 concept at Auto Expo 2014. While the CS400 turned into Dominar 400 in production guise, the SS400 is expected to form the touring version of the Dominar.
The iterations of the Dominar is expected to be powered by the same 373.3cc 4-valve DTS-i liquid-cooled engine that churns out 34bhp and 35Nm of torque. The power figures will be tweaked on each variant.
Dominar, as a new brand, is positioned above Pulsar and Avenger brands in Bajaj Auto's portfolio. Dominar will focus only on premium and more powerful motorcycles of the manufacturer. Bajaj also aims to take the brand Dominar to international markets and this is expected to aid the company to create a new brand image worldwide and achieve its target to make the Dominar a one billion dollar global brand.
