Bajaj Dominar 400 is one of the most-awaited motorcycles of the year and it is also the next big thing from the Pune-based automaker. Unveiled as Pulsar CS400 at the Auto Expo 2014, the company took three years to come up with the final product. With Dominar 400, the company will be eyeing a success in line with the Pulsar range.
Dominar 400 has all the ingredients that will make another success story. The spy shots and leaked images indicate that it will be the most stylish motorcycle from Bajaj Auto till date. Once launched, Dominar 400 will become the flagship product and it will be Bajaj Auto's first entrant in the cruiser sport segment.
Hence, Bajaj Auto is not taking chances on the powertrain. Dominar 400 will be powered by a 373cc petrol motor that is expected to generate 41bhp of power and 30Nm of torque mated to six-speed transmission. The engine is tried and tested in KTM 390 Duke while the state of tune might be different for Dominar 400. The motorcycle is expected to have ABS or Anti-lock Braking System as an option.
The specifications make it clear that Dominar 400 will be a premium product while not compromising on value-for-money proportion. Dominar 400 is expected to be priced below Rs 2 lakh and at that price point, it will make a compelling case in the touring segment.
Bajaj Auto also has plans to make Dominar moniker to focus only on premium and more powerful motorcycles. Hence it is evident that with Dominar 400, Bajaj Auto wants to repeat the success story of the Pulsar range that was launched last decade as premium offering.
