Bajaj Auto's new cruiser motorcycle series, the Avenger, which consists of three models, has been fetching good sales for the company ever since October. The range grew from one model to three models with the update registered sales of nearly 31,000 units in February, reports Autocar professional.
The company had sold a total of 28,085 units under its Avenger brand in January 2016 and 20,182 units in December 2015. This makes it clear that the new models sales are in top gear from the average 3000 units sale when the Avenger was sold in a single variant before October 2015.
The Avenger cruiser range now consists of Avenger Street 150, Street 220 and Cruise 220, in which the 150cc variants are priced at Rs 75,000 and the 220cc models at Rs 84,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Though the variant wise sales is not out, sales of the 150cc variant should have accounted for more than half of the total sales, judging previous month's results. The Avenger series cracked in to the top ten best-selling motorcycle list for the first time in December 2015, and out of the total 20,182 units sold, 9,234 units were Avenger Street 150.
The Avenger Street 220 and Avenger Cruise 220 come with a 220cc single-cylinder four-stroke air-cooled engine that can churn out 19bhp at 8,400rpm and 17.5Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. The third in the line-up — Avengers Street 150 — gets Pulsar 150's engine that is tuned to generate 13bhp and a maximum torque of 12.5Nm.
