Bajaj Auto launched a new colour option — an attractive golden beige paint scheme — to the Avenger Cruise 220 motorcycle. When the Pune-based two- and three-wheeler-manufacturer revamped the Avenger range of cruiser motorcycles from one model to three on Oct. 27 last year, the Cruise 220 was available only in black colour.
The pictures taken by Gaadiwaadi show Avenger Cruise 220 displayed in a new golden beige colour at a dealer showroom. Reports say Bajaj Auto has not increased the price for the Avenger Cruise 220 in the new colour. The motorcycle has been priced at Rs.84,000, ex-showroom, Delhi.
The Avenger cruiser range consists of the Avenger Street 150, Street 220 and Cruise 220. Under the hood, the Avenger Street 220 and Avenger Cruise 220 come with a 220cc single-cylinder four-stroke air-cooled engine that can churn out 19bhp at 8,400rpm and 17.5Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. The third in the line-up — Avengers Street 150 — gets Pulsar 150's engine that is tuned to generate 13bhp and a maximum torque of 12.5 Nm.
The sales of the Avenger range have picked up markedly after the update. The company had sold a total of 28,085 units of Avenger motorcycles in January 2016 and 20,182 units in December 2015. This is a big jump from the average 3,000 units sold monthly when the Avenger was sold in a single variant before October 2015. In March, Bajaj Auto sold 25,477 units of the Avenger range.
