India's leading two wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto Ltd will roll out its most expensive and technologically advanced 100cc bike in January.
Speaking on the sidelines of the company's fourth dealership in Coimbatore, Bajaj Auto President K Srinivas said, "Besides being the most expensive motorcycle in the 100CC segment, it will also be technologically most advanced bike," as quoted by The Press Trust of India.
He did not reveal any details about the bike other than saying that the new 100cc bike will offer exciting and new features.
"Our experience has been that buyers in this segment are value conscious and not necessarily price conscious," he added.
At present Bajaj has 100cc bikes in the Platina and Discover models that are priced between ₹38,990 and ₹44,497. The features and the price of the soon-to-be launched bike are yet to be revealed.
Bajaj witnessed an increase in market share in the first quarter of the current fiscal year at a time when the country's overall motorcycle market saw a decline. The market share of the company went up to 27 per cent from 25 percent during this period.
During this festive season, Bajaj marked a six percent sales growth of its product compared to the last year's festive season sales. Dussera sales were boosted by the newly launched bikes FY-Discover 4G, Pulsar 200 and Discover 125 ST. In September, the company's Discover model surpassed sales of Hero MotoCorp's best-selling Splendour with 1.22 lakh units.
The company expects a sale of 45,000 units of Discover 125 ST this month. Discover 125 ST tapped the market with its unifying features of a sports segment vehicle and commuter segment vehicle.
