Bajaj revamped its cruiser range of motorcycles from one model to three models on 27 October. The Avenger cruiser range now consists of Avenger Street 150, Street 220 and Cruise 220, in which 150cc variants are priced at Rs 75,000 and 220 models at Rs 84,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
S Ravikumar, President, Business Development of Bajaj Auto, confirmed the new Avenger range has been doing good in sales and the number 3,300 units in November 2014 now grown to 13,500 units in November 2015. The growth of 300% is also achieved with the three motorcycles variants in place of just one variant in 2014. The overwhelming response has prompted the company a production target of 20,000 units in December 2015, Ravikumar said in an interview with CNBC-TV18.
The Pune-based auto manufacturer also registered 3.4% increase in two-wheeler sales in November 2015. The sales stood at 2,70,886 units as against 2,61,948 units in November 2015.
Bajaj launched Avenger Street 220 and Avenger Cruise 220 with the same 220cc single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine, which can churn out 19bhp at 8,400rpm and 17.5Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. The third in the line-up -- Avengers Street 150 -- gets Pulsar 150's engine that is tuned to generate 13bhp and a maximum torque of 12.5 Nm.
The Avenger Street 220 gets Harley Davidson Street 750 kind of styling with street control handle bar, alloy wheels, matte black colour, low slung seating and digital meter while the Cruise 220 gets long wheel base, wide rear tyre and digital dials.
