Vijay has a good fan following in Kerala and his popularity in the state seems to be growing with every film. His growing presence in the region became more evident after the distribution rights of his upcoming movie, Bairavaa, were sold for a record price.
Rumours are rife that a leading company recently acquired the Kerala theatrical rights of Bairavaa. After a few rounds of talks, the deal is said to have been signed for Rs 7.3 crore. This would be the highest amount ever paid for the Kerala rights of an Ilayathalapathy film.
The rights of his previous movie, Theri, were reportedly sold for Rs 5.6 crore, which was the best deal for a Vijay-starrer so far.
Meanwhile, the shooting of Bairavaa was wrapped up recently, and post-production work is now being completed in Chennai. It is expected to be over in the next few weeks.
The Bairavaa team is now getting ready for the release of its trailer. The video will be released on December 10. It will be followed by the audio launch, the date of which is yet to be revealed.
Bairavaa, which was launched on April 11, is written and directed by Bharathan, who is collaborating with Vijay for the second time, after Azhagiya Tamil Magan. Keerthy Suresh plays Ilayathalapathy's love interest in the film, which also stars Aparna Vinod, Jagapathi babu and others.
The film, which will hit the screens on the occasion of Pongal 2017, features M Sukumar's cinematography, Praveen KL's editing and Santhosh Narayanan's music.
