"Bahubali" (Baahubali) director SS Rajamouli and producer Shobu Yarlagadda showcased VR (Virtual Reality)-themed stall at the Cannes Film Festival and also held a panel discussion on it.
Producer Shobu Yarlagadda took to his Twitter handle on May 10 to give details of the event plan of the "Bahubali" team at the Cannes Film Festival. He revealed that he has teamed up with Radeon Technology Division and AMD, which is backing "Baahubali" for its visual effects. He said that they would showcase Google Cardboard VR glasses at the Next Pavilion on May 15 and 16.
In a series of posts, Shobu Yarlagadda wrote, "So we lined up a few things for @BaahubaliMovie this year at @Festival_Cannes @mdf_cannes! # Cannes2016. 1st a panel discussion on VR at NEXT Pav. Cannes Market on May 16th wth @ssrajamouli, @GFXChipTweeter, me & Patrick Frater of @VarietyAsia. It is titled 'Increasing the Intensity and Scale of Epic Film Experiences through VR - An Indian Story' (sic)."
He added, "We are producing a path breaking VR experience based on @BaahubaliMovie! We will share the challenges in production & distribution of VR! @AMDRadeon @AMD & #Baahubali will be showcasing "Paranormal Activity" VR Game Demo at NEXT Pavilion on May 15th & 16th! #Cannes2016 And finally we have market screening of @BaahubaliMovie @mdf_cannes on May 16th evening. #Cannes2016 All registered to Cannes Film Market will get these #Baahubali @AMDRadeon branded Google Cardboard VR glasses!e"
The panel discussion, which was moderated by Variety's Asia Bureau Chief Patrick Frater, was live streamed on the official Facebook account of "Bahubali." The "Bahubali" team tweeted, "Patrick Frater of @variety will host a discussion w the makers of #Baahubali & Senior VP of @AMDRadeon - the opportunities for #VR in films!
