Bahubali 2 is the most-talked about Telugu movie of 2017 and the theatrical rights of the movie got sold for never-heard-before prices on the back of a huge hype. The AP distributors have reportedly shelled out a hefty sum of over Rs 60 crore for the theatrical rights and are going all out to recover the maximum amount in the first weekend.
The AP distributors have booked a massive number of cinema halls for Bahubali 2 in the first week. They have also hiked the ticket prices based on the demand. The distributors have also decided to increase the number of shows from 4 to 6 per day in the state to cash in on the Bahubali mania in the state.
The distributors made extensive arrangements in advance and even got permission from the government of Andhra Pradesh to hold 6 shows per day. But the government's decision has not gone down well with the Telugu Cinema Audience's Association [TCAA], which has reportedly raised an objection against the permission to hold extra shows.
The Association has reportedly filed a complaint with the principal secretary of state's Home Ministry, Anuradha, seeking to quash the permission to hold extra shows for Bahubali 2. The complaint claims it's anti-constitutional to screen a movie between 1 am to 8 am in theatres. Anuradha is said to have assured them to bring the matter to the notice of CM Chandrababu Naidu.
This is not the first time the Telugu film distributors are holding extra shows. Some big ticket movies were screened between 1 am to 8 am in the recent past. Is there a special reason for TCAA to protest against Bahubali 2?
Meanwhile, the AP distributors are betting high on Bahubali 2, set to be released on April 28. They are likely to incur huge losses, if the AP government rolls back the permission to hold extra shows.
