Varun Dhawan's crime drama "Badlapur" has received very positive response from Bollywood celebrities and film critics, but the film might not have a bumper opening at the box office.
Sriram Raghavan's directorial film "Badlapur" is a neo-noir crime drama that features Varun, Yami Gautam, Huma Qureshi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in important roles.
Critics and celebrities have praised the film and said that it is Varuns's best performance till date. The film tells the story of a man who takes revenge from his wife's killer.
The film, which got clearance from censor board, has received 'A' certificate due to some adult and violent scenes.
Talking about the advance booking status, the occupancy is very low compared to Varun's last films and big-budget movies released this year. And the 'A' certificate from censor board might also affect the opening day box office collection.
Due to its genre, the film has registered occupancy of just 30 to 40% as it targets a very limited audience. But the occupancy is expected to increase with word of mouth.
The lead actors have promoted the film in full swing and even "Badlapur" songs have topped the chartbusters. With the buzz working in the favour of the film, Varun starrer should have a good opening day collection.
Another release "Qissa" starring Irrfan Khan wasn't promoted, so it might have a poor opening.
Overall, "Badlapur" has no competition at the box office this week and is expected to have a good run in India.
