Crime drama, "Badlapur", has been cashing in from domestic as well overseas box office.
Domestic Box Office
Varun Dhawan starrer "Badlapur" had a strong fourth day at the box office. Although the ticket sales dropped on fourth day, it was a normal drop as Monday is a working day.
"Badlapur" earned the production cost earning ₹4.25 crore on Monday. The four day total of the film stands at ₹28.25 crore, while the budget of the film was ₹25 crore.
"#Badlapur is super-strong on Mon. Fri 7 cr, Sat 8.75 cr, Sun 8.25 cr, Mon 4.25 cr. Total: ₹ 28.25 cr. India biz. Fantastic," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
Despite getting "A" certificate from the Censor board, the film remained steady at the box office. Even on Sunday the collection dropped due to India vs South Africa match, but it was only marginal.
"For an A-rated film made on a modest budget, the film had a good opening, especially in multiplexes. The collections improved on Saturday and remained almost steady on Sunday though it had the India-South Africa match as competition. If the film sustains in the week days, the collections will go up," trade analyst Amod Mehra told Mid-Day.
Overseas Box Office
Surprisingly, at overseas box office the film had a fantastic opening weekend run. It grossed approximately $1 million in its opening weekend from the US-Canada, UK-Ireland, UAE-GCC and other countries.
"#Badlapur springs a pleasant surprise in the international markets. Grosses approx $ 1 million [₹ 6.23 cr] in its opng wknd. Very good," Adarsh added.
