The Bachchan family has set a new record.
Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan will be honoured with the highest civilian award of the country, the Padma Vibhushan, in Delhi next month.
Big B, who will receive the prestigious civilian award by the President of India, is filled with pride that this will be the sixth Padma Award to be received by a member of the Bachchan family.
The 72-year-old actor has previously been honoured with the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan.
The Sr.Bachchan's father Harivansh Rai Bachchan was honoured the Padma Bhushan way back in 1976, while Amitabh's wife Jaya Bachchan received the Padma Shri in 1992. His daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan too received the Padma Shri in 2009.
"..the President of India shall be presenting the Padma Awards on the 8th of April in Delhi at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.. my 6th visit for this prestigious ceremony –first for my Father when he received the Padma Bhushan, then for my own Padma Shri, then Padma Bhushan, for Jaya the Padma Shri, for Aishwarya's the Padma Shri, and now again for me the Padma Vibhushan," Sr.Bachchan mentioned in his blog.
Howver, the only member yet to receive a Padma award is his son Abhishek Bachchan.
Further, the "Shamitabh" actor, who is filled with gratitude and honour, wonders if there has been any family with six Padma awardees and three Padma awards for a single individual.
This year, the President of India has approved Padma Awards to 104 persons - 9 Padma Vibhushan, 20 Padma Bhushan and 75 Padma Shri Awardees, according to a report in IBN Live.
