Akshay Kumar-starrer "Baby" and Sonam Kapoor's "Dolly ki Doli" have opened to below-average response at the international box office in its debut weekend. However, positive word-of-mouth is expected to improve their business in the coming days.
"Baby" has earned $350,903 (₹2.15 crore) from 85 screens in the United States in its opening weekend; whereas "Dolly ki Dolli" has earned $81,802 (₹50.29 lakh) from 60 screens in the first weekend, reports Bollywood Hungama. This is one circuit where the movie should have done a good business, given the popularity of Bollywood films here.
However, Telugu movie "Patas" is off to an impressive start in the United States as it has earned $105,848 (₹65.07 lakh) from just 18 screens.
In the Canadian box office, "Baby" has earned $84,048 (₹51.67 lakh) from 14 screens; while "Dolly ki Doli" has collected $30,266 (₹18.60 lakh) from 12 screens.
Neeraj Pandey's "Baby" has raked in £67,931 (₹62.71 lakh) from 38 screens in the United Kingdom and Ireland box office. Arbaaz Khan's "Dolly ki Doli" has made £41,177 (₹38.01 lakh) from 18 screens in its first weekend.
"Baby has earned A$104,238 (₹50.53 lakh) in Australia and "Dolly ki Dolli" has made A$31,586 (₹15.31 lakh) from 13 screens. While Akshay's movie has collected NZ$26,195 (₹11.96 lakh) in New Zealand, Sonam's movie has made NZ$7,098 (₹3.24 lakh).
However, the traders are expecting "Baby" and "Dolly ki Doli" to do better as the films have received good reviews from viewers.
Meanwhile, "Baby" has grossed more than ₹50 crore at the box office. The response is getting better every day. On the other hand, "Dolly ki Doli" has earned a total of more than ₹15 crore in its first four days.
