After four seasons worth of love triangle between Ben (Jean-Luc Bilodeau), Riley (Chelsea Kane) and Danny (Derek Theler), Danny proposed to Riley impromptu at what was supposed to be his mother Bonnie and fiancé Brad's (Peter Porte) wedding.
Although we all know in our guts that Riley would say yes marrying Danny, we needed a confirmation before we let ourselves believe our collective shipping has borne fruit. And now, creator Dan Berendsen has given us just that. "We needed to let these kids start settling down and growing up and making big decisions," he told TV Line.
Danny and Riley had a few hitches along the way, with timing being the greatest enemy of their relationship. Therefore, it is only fair that when he got the chance he went all out and asked her to marry him, rather than waiting to go on a few dates to determine something he already knew – he wanted to be with her for the rest of his life.
It is understood that even in the coming season, we will skip a few steps in their relationship. "In the first episode, you'll see the aftermath of the proposal, and then we'll be jumping ahead a month. ... We wanted to show Danny and Riley mid-relationship, rather than doing the same stories we've done with Ben and Riley, like their awkward first date. We wanted to go to some fresh territory," said Berendsen.
But fans of Ben need not worry, he will get his own love interest later in the season, and he will accept the fact that his brother and his former girlfriend deserved to be together.
