Akshay Kumar's "Baby" is inching towards at the coveted Rs 100 crore club in Indian markets. Despite the release of "Shamitabh", Akshay's movie did well on third Friday at the domestic box office.
The film minted approximately Rs 1 crore on third Friday, which took its 15 days total to Rs 85.4 crore. With a good hold at the box office, the film should earn 100 crore by fourth weekend.
Meanwhile, following the success of "Baby" the makers have decided to come up with a sequel.
"Baby" is directed by Neeraj Pandey and co-produced by Akshay. He also plays the lead role along with Anupam Kher, Rana Daggubati, Danny Denzongpa, Taapsee Pannu, Mikaal Zulfiqar and Madhurima Tuli.
Confirming the news, Pandey said that they will bring the sequel in 2017. Pandey is currently working on MS Dhoni's biopic and will start the work on "Baby" sequel after wrapping up the shooting of biopic.
"The concept of the franchise and the sequel were clear in my head even while I was writing Baby. I am excited that my cast and producers are bringing the film back in 2017." Akshay added, "As an actor and an action fanatic, Baby took me to another level. Working with Neeraj is always a delight and I just can't wait to get cracking on Baby 2 for which I am determined to work even harder," Pandey told The Times of India.
Even the co-producer Bhushan Kumar is excited to team up with the hit director-actor jodi.
"This Baby will be an even bigger adrenaline rush than the first film," he said.
