Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif-starrer "Baar Baar Dekho" has maintained a decent pace at the box office over the 1st weekend, but its 3-day collection is less than what was expected.
Directed by Nitya Mehra, "Baar Baar Dekho" had collected Rs. 6.81 crore nett at the Indian box office on its opening day and its earning did not witness much growth on Saturday as well. The film had made a business of Rs. 7.65 crore nett at the domestic market on its second day, registering a growth of just 12.33 percent.
However, Sunday collection of "Baar Baar Dekho" surprisingly was even less than that of Friday and Saturday. The film collected Rs. 6.70 crore on its 3rd day of the weekend, taking its 3-day collection to over Rs. 21.16 crore nett.
"#BaarBaarDekho Fri 6.81 cr, Sat 7.65 cr, Sun 6.70 cr. Total: 21.16 cr. India biz. [sic]," tweeted Taran Adarsh. Talking about the poor collection of the film, the trade analyst added, "#BaarBaarDekho has fared way below expectations...Shockingly, the biz on Sun was lower than Fri and Sat, which says it all [sic]."
Co-produced by Karan Johar, "Baar Baar Dekho" was made on a budget of Rs. 50 crore. The makers of the movie had recovered half of the total cost through sale of satellite and music rights that were sold for Rs.26 crore.
There was much hype around the film before its release but the movie had received mixed response from the critics and looks like the word of mouth is also not very positive for the film.
With no big release alongside except "Freaky Ali," "Baar Baar Dekho" still has scope to pick up its pace at the box office as Tuesday will again be a holiday for Eid Al Adha. The film's music also has been liked by the audience which is likely to help in increasing footfalls in the theatres.
"Baar Baar Dekho" will have to make good collection at the box office over its first week as two movies "Pink" and "Raaz Reboot" are slated to be released on next Friday, which is likely to affect its collection badly.
