SS Rajamouli, who is busy with the sequel of "Baahubali," has announced his next movie. The maverick director will join hands with Tamil actor Ilayathalapathy Vijay, who is busy with his forthcoming movie "Theri."
In an interview, SS Rajamouli said that he will be collaborating with Vijay for a historical movie. "Talks have reached the final stages and we will reveal further information soon."
Sources say that the upcoming film is based on a king from the Chola dynasty. The movie narrates the journey of Karikalan Chola, who was also a valiant warrior. The director has plans to rope in a big name from Bollywood to play the female lead role.
Deepika Padukone is said to be the front-runner to bag the role. However, Priyanka Chopra is also reportedly being considered for it.
Sources add that the upcoming movie will be made with a budget of Rs. 200 crore. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and Kannada actor Sudeep will also be part of the film. A leading producer from Telugu has come forward to bankroll the project.
Currently, SS Rajamouli is busy with "Baahubali: The Conclusion." The Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamanna Bhatia starrer will reportedly hit the screens April 2017. It is only after this project that the director will start working on his movie with Vijay, who has to complete two films before moving on to Rajamouli's flick.
