Director SS Rajamouli, actor Prabhas and script-writer V Vijayendra Prasad are of the opinion that the character of Shivudu and the waterfall setting are the most interesting components of "Baahubali - The Beginning", which is scheduled to be released on 10 July.
Bollywood film-maker Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, which is presenting the Hindi version of "Baahubali", has released a video on YouTube on 4 July. The three-minute clip features Rajamouli, Prabhas and Vijayendra Prasad apart from production designer Sabu Cyril and costume designer Rama Rajamouli.
SS Rajamouli
"When we designed the character, I wanted him to be free-spirited and unrestrained by any kind of law. I wanted him to be an adventure seeker. So that's how we designed the character of Shivudu.
The outward character of Shivudu is that of an adventure seeker. The adventure seeking comes from a longing from within. He wants to answer his question like who he is and where he is from. This seeking gave us the design of the world of Shivudu."
Prabhas
He is most lively and fun-loving person. I think most of entertainment in the whole film is from the character of Shivudu. Waterfall and mountain climbing are among the most important part of his life. That's where he crosses his limits. I think that's when he begins his life.
Waterfalls and mountain climbing are one of the most intersting part. For that, we trained for almost 3-4 days. It was a little tough on the first day, but it was very interesting from the second day. The training helped us a lot when we were shooting the song, which went on for more than 15 days.
Scriptwriter V Vijayendra Prasad
He is neither burdened by any of the princely matters, nor the intrigue of palaces. It's a flamboyant and fun loving character. We had to weave the story around the big waterfall and that is how it became an integral part of the story. His eyes, reverently looking at me, are asking who am I? Who am I? That is going to be answered at the end of "Baahubali - The Beginning".
Costume Designer Rama Rajamouli
We designed the clothes that revealed his physique for the scenes, where he is with the tribe in the forest.
Production designer Sabu Cyril
We all went to Kerala specifically to shoot the waterfall and the greenery. We have also created massive sets in RFC for the shooting of the scenes of his growing up period, where he is trying to climb mountains and things like that in the forest.
