SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali: The Beginning" is all set to have a grand release in China. The magnum opus starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia will release across China in May in over 6,000 screens.
Earlier, it was reported that "Baahubali" would release in 5,000 theatres across China, but latest reports say E Stars Films, which had released big Hollywood movies like "Before I Go To Sleep", "The Gunman" and "Lone Survivor" in China, has taken up the theatrical rights of "Baahubali" for its China release in 6,000 screens.
On the other side, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's directorial "Bajirao Mastani" will also release in China on March and will have a screen count of 6,000. Produced by Eros, "Bajirao Mastani", starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, is also one of the biggest grossers of Bollywood.
"As we talk, the deal has been almost cracked with the Chinese distributors. 'Bajirao Mastani', with all its splendour, will be releasing in China on a massive scale. Trade estimates put the screen count in a range of over 6,000," Bollywood Hungama earlier quoted a source as saying.
This is the highest screen count for any Indian movie in China. Earlier, Aamir Khan's "PK" and Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Happy New Year" held the record for the biggest releases in China, with 5,000 screens each. "PK" was also released by E Star Films. While "PK" made a collection of CNY 116,600,062, "Baahubali" and "Bajirao Mastani" are likely to break that record.
Both "Baahubali" and "Bajirao Mastani" did record-breaking business at the domestic and overseas markets. It will be interesting to see which one rules at the Chinese box office.
