Prabhas and Rana Daggubati's war epic movie "Baahubali" has shattered all box office records and set new benchmarks in two weeks. After having a wonderful 14-day run in theatres, the movie is game for a great third weekend in Tamil Nadu.
"Baahubali" opened to thunderous response at the Tamil Nadu box office. It was released in two versions of which the Tollywood version dominated screens in the opening weekend. The good word-of-mouth helped the movie to draw the Tamil audience too.
After raking in Rs.16 crore in three days, "Baahubali" ended its first weekend on a high note by making Rs.26 crore in a week. In its second weekend, it added another Rs.9 crore to take its total tally to Rs.35 crore in 10 days.
By the end of its second weekend, people had expected the movie to slow down. But to everybody's surprise, "Baahubali" went on to make another Rs.6 crore to take its total tally to Rs.42 crore by the end of two weeks (14 days).
Now, "Baahubali" is heading for its third weekend in Tamil Nadu with a bang. The movie will have above 200 shows in its third weekend and the advance booking clearly says that the film will rock this weekend.
It is quite surprising to see that "Baahubali" is holding on well despite new Tamil releases. In fact, last week release "Maari" starring Dhanush and Kajal Aggarwal did not take a toll on the business on the multilingual movie.
"Baahubali" is a mega-budget film directed by SS Rajamouli. Apart from Prabhas and Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamanna Bhatia are in the lead roles. The movie has turned out to become the biggest Indian grosser of South India by making over Rs.400 crore.
It is a two-part movie of which the first instalment was released on 10 July. The second instalment will be released in 2016.
