Prabhas' latest outing "Baahubali - the Beginning" (Bahubali) has done superb collection at the worldwide box office in its third weekend and has crossed the mark of Rs 450 crore in 17 days.
Despite clashing with two biggies like "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" and "Maari", "Baahubali - the Beginning" maintained rock-steady at the ticket counters in the second week. The movie grossed Rs 136 crore at the worldwide box office in its second week, taking its 14-day gross total to Rs 385 crore.
In its third week, "Baahubali - the Beginning" lost some theatres to new Telugu releases "James Bond", "Demonte Colony", "Jilla" and "Sahasam Seyyara Dimbaka", Hindi films "Aisa Yeh Jahaan" and "Masaan", English movie "Ant-Man" and Tamil movies "Aavi Kumar" and "Naalu Policeum Nalla Irundha Oorum".
Since most of these movies were less-hyped and medium budget films, "Baahubali - the Beginning" became the first choice of thousands of film-goers across the country and also, in the international market. The movie managed to register an average of 70% occupancy everywhere in its third weekend. The film ran to packed houses in some centres around the world.
The makers are still busy compiling the numbers of its third weekend. But if we are to go by early trends, "Baahubali - the Beginning" grossed approximately Rs 40 crore at the global box office in the third weekend. Its 17-day gross collection stands at Rs 425 crore. The film has become third all-time highest grosser Indian movie, beating the record of "Chennai Express" (Rs 423 crore).
As per early trends, the SS Rajamouli-directed film has witnessed in its business on its third Monday. "Baahubali - the Beginning" is expected to collect another Rs 25 crore on the weekdays and take its three-week gross total to Rs 450 crore.
As of now, "Baahubali - the Beginning" has collected approximately Rs 302 crore nett at the global box office in the third weekend. The distributors share stands at around Rs 236 crore approximately, reports Andhra Box Office.
