SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali" (also spelled as "Bahubali") has set a new benchmark at Indian box office. The movie is now heading towards creating history at collection centres by reaching the Rs. 400 crore mark.
"Baahubali", which has grossed Rs. 355 crore in 10 days worldwide, has reportedly touched Rs. 365 mark in 12 days. The trade experts predict that the film would reach the Rs.375-crore mark by the end of its second week.
Its next big target will be to cross the Rs. 400 crore mark and the film could possibly reach it in its third weekend.
The movie has turned out to be a profitable venture for all the sectors (producer, distributor & exhibitor) of business. The Telugu distributors have made handsome money.
So far, "Baahubali" has raked in a distributor share of Rs.170 crore in 12 days at the Indian box office from three versions (Telugu, Tamil and Hindi). It is on the verge of beating Aamir Khan's Bollywood movie "PK" record of Rs. 175 crore. This record is likely to be broken on Wednesday, 22 July.
The Tamil and Hindi versions have also done well. While the Hindi version has made Rs. 67 crore till date, the Tamil version has made about Rs. 40 crore.
The multilingual movie has managed to perform well despite facing competition from Bollywood biggie "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", starring Salman Khan, which was released last weekend. Tamil movie "Maari", starring Dhanush and Kajal Aggarwal, could not stop the dream run of "Baahubali".
"Baahubali" is made in two parts, the first instalment of which was released on 10 July. The two parts have been made with the budget of Rs. 250 crore (Rs.120+130 Crore).
The movie stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamanna Bhatia in lead roles, with Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan playing key roles in the flick.
