Aamir Khan's Dangal made a stupendous collection at the China box office over 17 days, taking its global total closer to the collection of Baahubali 2 (Bahubali 2). But it will never be able to beat the latter's record.
Baahubali 2 collected Rs 1,250 crore gross at the worldwide box office in two weeks. Its historic business made everyone think that no other Indian movie would come closer to the mark of the Prabhas-starrer. But Dangal has surprised everyone with its tremendous performance in China, and the film has moved closer to the total worldwide collection of the SS Rajamouli-directed movie.
Released in 9,000 screens across China on May 5, Dangal collected $33.92 crore at the China box office in its third weekend, taking its 21-day total collection to $112.54 million (Rs 726.32 crore). Taran Adarsh tweeted: "#Dangal is UNSTOPPABLE. Crosses ₹ 725 cr in China... Week 3: Fri: $ 6.05 mn Sat: $ 16.24 mn Sun: $ 11.63 mn Total: $ 112.54 mn [₹ 726.32 cr]"
Another expert from the industry claims that Dangal collected $112.54 million (Rs 726.32 crore) at the China box office in 21 days. Ramesh Bala tweeted: "#DANGAL earned est. ¥84.29 M [US $12.64 M/₹ 81.50 Crs] on Sunday - May 21st 11 PM CST! #China's total is now $113.46 M / ₹ 731.36 Crs]."
With this, Dangal has collected Rs 1,501.64 crore gross at the worldwide box office and become the second Indian movie to cross the mark of Rs 1,500 crore gross after Baahubali 2. Ramesh Bala tweeted: "@aamir_khan 's #Dangal @ the WW BO: May 21st '17 #China - ₹ 731.36 Crs #Taiwan - ₹ 25.78 Crs RoW - ₹ 744.50 Crs Total - ₹ 1,501.64 Crs"
On other hand, the collection of the Prabhas and Rana Daggubati-starrer has dropped considerably in its fourth week. Baahubali 2 collected approximately Rs 55 crore gross at the worldwide box office in its fourth weekend, and its 24-day total collection has reached Rs 1,558 crore gross in the global market.
Now, Dangal needs to collect Rs 57 crore to beat the total collection record of Baahubali 2. While the collection of Baahubali is sinking, Dangal is going very strong at the China box office. In fact, its collection now is much bigger than its business in the first and second weekend. It will surely beat the total collection record of Baahubali 2, and might even collect a maximum of Rs 1,700 crore gross in the global market.
But Baahubali 2 is yet to invade some foreign markets. The makers of the film are currently in talks with some international distributors for its release in China, Taiwan, Japan and some other countries. When the film is released in these countries, the Prabhas-starrer is going to see even bigger success than Dangal, and its total collection is likely to reach Rs 2,500 crore gross in the global market.
