SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 has turned out to be the biggest money-spinner of Kollywood in 2017. The good word-of-mouth for the multilingual movie has translated into a great business, thereby ending its 10-day collection on a high note in Tamil Nadu.
Baahubali 2 has grossed close to Rs. 80 crore with a nett income of Rs 68 crore from four versions (Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi). The distributors' share stands at Rs 42 crore. The industry experts are now expecting the film to reach Rs 100-crore mark by May 12.
Sri Green Productions acquired Baahubali 2's Tamil Nadu theatrical rights for Rs 47 crore and their investment will be recovered in the next few days. They are expected to make huge profit from the movie, which has Anushka Shetty and Tamannah Bhatia in the female leads.
The Prabhas and Rana Daggubati-starrer had minted Rs. 10.25 crore on the first day and made Rs. 31.55 crore in the first weekend itself. In the next four days, the film enjoyed good footfalls and added Rs. 30.45 crore to take its first week total tally to Rs. 62 crore in Tamil Nadu.
In the next three days, it has collected close to Rs. 18 crore. The best part of Baahubali 2 success is that the collection has not significantly dropped on any day. The summer holidays has helped the movie to draw audience to theatres.
On the other hand, Baahubali 2 has become the first Indian film to breach Rs. 1,000-crore mark. In 10 days, the movie has minted over Rs. 1,200 crore. In South India alone, the film has raked in over Rs. 5,00 crore. In overseas, it has earned close to Rs. 250 crore.
