SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 has set the Tamil Nadu box office on fire. The movie has now shattered the lifetime record of Suriya's Singam 3 (S3) and is heading towards beating the record of Vijay's Bairavaa.
In five days, Baahubali 2 has minted over Rs 44 crore in Tamil Nadu surpassing Singam 3's lifetime collection of Rs 44 crore (distributors' share: Rs 26.4 crore). And what's more, Baahubali 2 has achieved the feat in just five days of its theatrical run.
Now, the trade experts are predicting Baahubali 2 to beat the record of Bairavaa, which grossed Rs 62.7 crore (distributors' share: 42.2 crore) in its lifetime. SS Rajamouli's film is expected to shatter the record of the Vijay-starrer by the end of its second weekend.
Sri Green Productions acquired the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights for Rs 47 crore and the distributors are expecting to turn a huge profit in the coming days, thanks to the overwhelming response the movie has received.
Baahubali 2, which has grossed over Rs 650 crore worldwide in five days, had collected Rs 10.25 crore on the first day and ended its first weekend at Rs 31.55 crore at Tamil Nadu box office. The business remained steady on Monday due to the International Labours Day holiday. Surprisingly, the film enjoyed good viewership on Tuesday despite it being a working day.
The trade experts are predicting Baahubali 2, which has Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia in the female leads, to gross over Rs 100 crore in Tamil Nadu alone.
