Prabhas and Rana Daggubati's Baahubali 2 is now the biggest hit at the Tamil Nadu box office. It has surpassed the collection of Rajinikanth's Enthiran 2 to become the highest grossing flick in the state.
Trade reports say that Baahubali 2 has minted over Rs 110 crore in 21 days with a net income close to Rs 90 crore. The distributors' share stands at Rs 57 crore. It has become the second movie to surpass Rs 100 crore mark in Tamil Nadu after Rajinikanth's Enthiran, which minted Rs 105 crore way back in 2010.
Baahubali 2 was released in over 450 screens in Tamil Nadu, predominantly in Tamil. In Chennai and other metros, the film also saw the release of its Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi versions. The pre-release buzz helped the movie to register a solid opening by raking in Rs 10.25 crore.
The opening was not an indication of Baahubali 2 doing a record-breaking collection, but it was its first weekend performance that hinted about the SS Rajamouli film setting the box office on fire in Tamil Nadu.
It made Rs 33 crore with a net income of Rs 27.6 crore in three days. The movie managed to pull the audience for the next four days to end its first-week collection at Rs 62 crore with a net income of 51.2 crore.
The movie was acquired by Sri Green Productions for Rs 47 crore and they have pocked good profits from the SS Rajamouli directorial.
The collection of Baahubali 2 is still stable and is expected to easily surpass Rs 125 crore mark.
