Outspoken Ram Gopal Varma, who often lands in trouble for his straight-forward views, has created a controversy attacking Kannadigas this time. The filmmaker has made comments in connection with the massive success of Baahubali 2 in Karnataka.
He tweeted, "Thundering success of Telugu Bahubali2 in Karnataka being far bigger than biggest of Kannada films proves Kannadigas have no pride at all. [sic]" This comment is about the SS Rajamouli's film becoming the biggest hit in Karnataka, beating the records of the local Kannada movies too.
He continued, "Kannadigas attempt to stop dubbing films is shattered by Telugu straight film proving kannadigas have no pride n they just want better film. [sic]" He concluded, "All proud Kannadigas should protest on their own Kannadigas for seeing a telugu straight film many more times than their own Kannada films. [sic]"
Baahubali 2 was released in four languages - Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi - in Karnataka. All the versions have done well here and the combined collection from the four versions have crossed Rs 100-crore mark.
His comments have obviously not gone well with Kannadigas, who have given befitting reply to him. Find selected-few tweets for his comments below:

Priyanka: N don't compare Telugu industry n Kannada industry there r best in there own ways no one has any right to say about Kannada industry
PD Sathish Chandra: Two words for you today... connoisseurs & courteous, if you understand them you might understand being prideless
Mhl: why are you trying to over shadow your washout movie in the name of bahubali
Ram Bolla: @RGVzoomin this happened with Sankarabharanam also. What it means is Kannadigas have excellent taste. It has nothing to do with pride.
Amardeep S Reen: If cinema was driven on regional pride, you might not have found space even in Cayman Island...
Surya: Rajamouli, Karan Johar, Prabhas and Rana are silent..Why this empty vesel (RGV) is making sound? Because he lives on cheap publicity...
Rangarajan S Iyengar: Do you really think so? Guess you should spend some time watching Kannada movies than spending time on twitter and make fool out of yourself
Anil Reddy: Real Kannadigas don't need to protest. They have enough heritage & great films to look forward to. Just that global marketing isnt upto mark
