SS Rajamouli's much-awaited film Baahubali: The Conclusion (Baahubali 2), which opened to a humongous response on Friday, April 28, has shattered the domestic box office collection record of all time on the first day itself.
Screening in over 6,700 screens in 4,800 locations in India, the multi-lingual movie that was released in four languages including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam, has crossed Rs 100 crore mark at the Indian box office on its opening day itself.
Trade analyst Girish Johar tweeted: "As expected, #Baahubali2 does the unthinkable, crosses 100cr mark in Day 1 alone in domestic mkt .. a RECORD which will take loong to beat !"
Although the film had been showing all the signs of being the biggest film ever made in Indian cinema, the fact that it has crossed Rs 100 crore mark at the domestic market on its opening day and has shattered all records is unimaginable. "Unbelievable... Unthinkable... Unimaginable... #Baahubali2 starts with a DEAFENING ROAR... Shatters ALL records... Creates HISTORY...," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
Moreover, Baahubali: The Conclusion had broken the advanced booking record previously held by Aamir Khan's Dangal. The morning and matinee shows were houseful in almost all the theatres across the country, while its business scaled up towards the evening shows. Released on a non-holiday, the film will further enjoy an extended weekend as May 1 is a public holiday.
Starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah, Baahubali 2 is also expected to break more box office records and set new benchmarks.
