SS Rajamouli's Baahubali: The Conclusion aka Bahubali 2 has become the first Indian movie to cross Rs 100 crore mark on the opening day at the box office. While Baahubali 2 has gone past blockbusters like Sultan and Dangal, the epic movie failed to beat the collection record of Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year at the Hindi box office.
The Hindi version of SRK's movie raked in Rs 42.62 crore on the opening day, while Baahubali 2 did a business of Rs 41 crore.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted: "#Baahubali2 Fri ₹ 121 cr NETT. India biz. Hindi: ₹ 41 cr Telugu + Tamil + Malayalam: ₹ 80 cr." On the other hand, the opening day collection of Happy New Year was Rs 44.97 crore (Hindi: Rs 42.62 crore, Tamil: Rs 0.92 crore and Telugu: Rs 1.43 crore).
Meanwhile, Baahubali 2 is setting box office on fire putting the records set by Aamir Khan's Dangal in danger. The magnum opus had earned big prior to the release, thanks to the unprecedented advanced bookings.
