The business of SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 is finally showing signs of slowing down. The collection of the multilingual movie, which completed its 50-day run on Thursday, June 15, witnessed a major drop in the main centres in its seventh week.
Baahubali 2 has ended its seventh week with a total collection of around Rs 1,685 crore, according to reports. The Prabhas and Rana Daggubati-starrer film has minted Rs 1,373 crore in India alone, with a net income of Rs 1,066 crore, Koimoi reported. The overseas market contributed about Rs 310 crore.
In its seventh week, Baahubali 2 earned about Rs 19 crore at the worldwide box office. Trade experts predict that the film would collect Rs 8-10 crore, and that it is unlikely to breach the Rs 1,700 crore mark this weekend, if the current trend is taken into consideration.
However, the collections are likely to get a major boost once Baahubali 2 releases in China. Reports claim that the film will hit the screens in the country on September 17.
The makers are said to be planning to release Baahubali 2 in China in over 4,000 screens. The team, comprising Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannah Bhatia and SS Rajamouli, is likely to travel to the country to promote the magnum opus.
Recently, Aamir Khan's Dangal was released in China and it made over Rs 1,100 crore. If Baahubali 2 gets similar reception, then it will easily touch the Rs 2,000 crore mark and will turn out to be the biggest money-spinner of Asia in 2017.
Baahubali 2 was released on April 28. The first instalment was released in July 2015 and made a lifetime business of more than Rs 600 crore.
